Born in 2023, The Cumberland Kitchen joined the Food Hall as a purpose-built demonstration area, bursting with local talent. Here, top chefs from across the region take centre stage, cooking up incredible dishes that highlight the flavours, passion, and people of Cumbria.

All dogs on leads are welcome, and entries are taken from 10:00 am, with judging at 12:00 noon. Entries can be made on the day so bring your furry friend along for a morning of tail-wagging fun!

'Walby'
Walby Farm A Family Favourite!
A huge hit with our younger visitors, the Walby Attraction brings the magic of Cumbria’s famous Walby Farm Park straight to the Showfield! Run by Farmer Neil and the Walby Team, this immersive experience lets you explore the best-loved farmyard animals and rare breeds from cute and cuddly to big and impressive.
Awarded Cumbria’s Large Visitor Attraction of the Year 2023 and National Farm Attraction of the Year 2015, Walby has recreated their famous Animal Barn, giving families the chance to get close to the animals and enjoy a true farmyard adventure!

Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling
For centuries, backhold wrestling has captured the hearts of both wrestlers and spectators alike. This thrilling contest of man-against-man skill combines speed, strength, agility, technique, and determination, and it comes alive in the grass rings at sports meetings and agricultural shows across the Northern Counties of England and the Scottish Borders.
Against all odds, Cumberland & Westmorland style wrestling has survived the test of time. For over two centuries, it has been documented in newspapers, books, and more recently through social media and proudly featured here at the Cumberland Show.
The sport itself scarcely changes. A wrestler from today could step back 200 years and feel right at home using the same techniques, the same technical terms like buttocks, hipes, and dog falls, and facing the same challenge for judges: ensuring the wrestlers begin with an equal hold.
Come and witness this historic and exhilarating sport in action at the Cumberland Show from 2:30pm
